Two views of this classic living room illustrate how a room can be built around a rug. The client decided on this 9x12 Kashan and decorated the rest of the room around the delicate pattern and light ivory border. The result is a stunning living room and dining room that work together beautifully.

Classic Dining Room
Keeping with the navy theme throughout the entire house (filled with Arakelian Rugs!), a 9x12 Kashan was also used in the adjoining dining room. The two Kashan are similar in design, but look different because the dining room rug is a vegetable dye (versus a manmade dye) which gives it a more muted, vintage feeling. For us, it is very satisfying to see the finished product when a homeowner completes the room with furnishings and accessories built around the rug.
